This Girl Can in Greater Bendigo!
On the 23rd of October, Jo Cahill, Project Coordinator of the Regional Sport Partnership Program at Sports Focus, caught up with Bendigo Community Health Services and City of Greater Bendigo to launch our This Girl Can 2024 campaign in Greater Bendigo!
The three organisations have been working in partnership for months now, organising a range of inclusive, culturally safe and welcoming sports and active recreation activities for This Girl Can week, which will be held on the 10th-17th of November. The week-long VicHealth initiative is for all women, girls and non-binary people, aiming to encourage and support physical activity in an affordable, fun, accessible way.
Speaking on the campaign, Jo said “There are activities happening all week long – over the weekend, early morning weekday sessions, evening sessions and activities during the day. There are even activities that women can bring their kids along to. We know there can be so many barriers to getting active, so This Girl Can Week is all about creating opportunities to participate in safe and inclusive settings.”
We hope that This Girl Can provides the opportunity for women, girls and non-binary people in Greater Bendigo to try a new sport or activity, meet new people, and take some time to focus on their overall wellbeing.
