On Thursday the 22nd of May, Sports Focus’ Lauren Fawcett, Club Development and Special Projects Lead, and Laura Bradley, Community Development and Partnerships Lead, attended the Regional Workforce and Participation Programs Stakeholder Meeting.
With representatives from Sport and Recreation Victoria, City of Greater Bendigo, Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Campaspe Shire Council, and Mildura Rural City Council, we got to hear about the current projects being delivered within the Loddon Mallee region, from the National Sporting Organisations (NSO) and State Sporting Associations (SSA) themselves.
The projects presented were all funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria through the Regional Workforce and Participation Programs – including the Sustainable Volunteer Workforce Program and the Strengthening Regional Community Sport Program. We heard from AusCycling, Tennis Victoria, AusTriathlon, Touch Football Victoria and Badminton Victoria about their funded projects, including their work to date, who they’re partnering with, and how local organisations and councils can support them.
The event provided a fantastic opportunity for connection, discussions, and identifying scope for collaboration between Sport and Recreation Victoria, Local Government Authorities, NSO’s and SSA’s, and our team at Sports Focus.
Overall, the meeting was a valuable step toward strengthening partnerships and driving positive outcomes for community sport across the Loddon Mallee region.
