Disability Inclusion

Sports Focus is funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria through their Together More Active funding, to deliver the Access for All Abilities Program across the Loddon Campaspe region.

Our work:

  • Sports Focus partners with sports clubs and active recreation providers, to develop inclusive, welcoming and safe opportunities and environments for people of all abilities. Part of this support includes our Inclusive Clubs Workshop, which provides club members with the knowledge, skills, resources and capacity to better understand disability and neurodiversity, and become a more inclusive club/facility.
  • We connect with local Disability Support Services, to support their clients in finding sport and active recreation activities that suit their needs, and help them to develop new opportunities tailored to what their clients want.
  • We also develop a monthly Access for All Abilities e-newsletter, filled with local participation opportunities, available funding, events, resources, news, and other helpful information.
  • We support Sailability Bendigo, which provides sailing opportunities for people with disabilities within the Greater Bendigo region.
  • Finally, we can also help individuals with disabilities find local sporting opportunities, connecting them with safe, inclusive and welcoming sporting clubs/facilities.

If you are a sport or active recreation club looking to be more inclusive, a Disability Support Service provider, or an individual looking for inclusive activities – Sports Focus is here to help!

Below is a case study, featuring the Kangaroo Flat Bowls Club. The Club has been on a journey of increasing their inclusion of people with disabilities, and are set to host several disability specific events in 2025.
