Help Shape More Inclusive Sporting Opportunities for Local Children

Every child deserves the chance to play.

Community sport provides so much more than just physical activity—it helps children build confidence, develop friendships, learn new skills and feel a sense of belonging. Yet too many children with disability miss out on these opportunities due to barriers that make participating in community sport more challenging.

These barriers aren’t because children don’t want to be active. For many families, it can be difficult knowing where to start, finding clubs that are welcoming and inclusive, or accessing the right support to get involved.

To help better understand these experiences, Sports Focus is partnering with Bendigo Special Developmental School to hear directly from local families. We’re inviting parents and guardians to complete a short survey about the challenges and barriers they face when accessing community sport for their child.

The insights gathered will help us better understand what children enjoy, what barriers exist, and how we can work with clubs and communities to create clearer, more inclusive pathways into local sport and active recreation.

Your feedback will play an important role in shaping future opportunities for children of all abilities across our region.

If you’re a parent or guardian of a child with disability, we’d love to hear from you.
