Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program

The Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program supports Aboriginal Victorians by providing funding to help them take part in Aboriginal sporting carnivals, purchase uniforms and equipment, and cover travel and accommodation costs for competing in state and national events.

Who can apply?

Aboriginal individuals and teams
Aboriginal individuals or teams who are not affiliated with a club or association can apply for grants under Categories 1 and 2.
They will need to arrange an auspice organisation to manage the grant funds on their behalf, through a funding agreement with the department.

Aboriginal Community Groups (not incorporated)
Unincorporated Aboriginal Community groups can apply for funding to support their members (Aboriginal individuals or teams).
These groups must have an incorporated organisation act as their auspice, which will manage the funding through a departmental funding agreement.

Incorporated organisations
Incorporated sporting clubs, sporting associations, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations can apply for grants on behalf of their members (Aboriginal individuals or teams).
These organisations will be responsible for managing the grant funding in line with the department’s funding agreement.

Important information for auspice organisations
Individuals or teams that are not affiliated with a club or association must contact the Aboriginal Programs team to advise that they require an auspice.
The Aboriginal Programs team will provide guidance on the process for entering an auspicing arrangement.
